As part of 'The E17 Art Trail' 1-18 July

Communal Luxury over 3 venues,
a photographic series that looks at the wealth of public art in Walthamstow, inspired by the Manifesto of the Federation of Artists formed during the Paris Commune of 1871.
’Communal Luxury’ was a term they used to describe a society in which art would be integrated into public life rather than treated as a private commodity. Supporters of the Commune, including William Morris, would champion the idea that art and beauty could flourish in everyday life. After 150 years this is still a possible future that needs to be embraced.
